360 Spin product Animation - Technical

To make a 360 spin animation we normally capture a sequence of 16-24 high resolution images of your product (more or less images may be captured depending on requirements). This number of images offers a good balance between smoothness of the 360 Spin product animation, webpage download time and the amount of photography and post-production Photoshop work required.

These high resolution images may also be used individually as jpgs or cropped as a close up product detail. We can also provide just the finished jpg or tif images for you to use as you require.

Our finished 360 spin product animations consist of just simple JavaScript HTML5 and Flash files running on your web pages. When a page is loaded, the code contained in these files automatically downloads the 360 Spin images from your web server. You don’t have to know JavaScript HTML5 or Flash to make it work.

All you need to do is upload the 360 Spin files to your web server and embed (add) a simple piece of linking code to your web page.

As a general guide using a viewer size on your web page of around 480 x 360 pixels (similar to the one we are using on our sample page) and an average broadband speed of about 3 Mbit/sec will give an approximate 3-5 second wait time for a complete 360 spin product animation to load. This wait time should work well for the majority of e-commerce applications. 360 Spin product animations download and display the first image immediately so your visitor has something to look at while the rest of the animation downloads.

The 360 Spin consists of two main components - Flash.swf and JavaScript.js HTML5 files. These two components are working together in such way that the Flash component is only loaded when a visitor's browser has the Flash plugin installed (95% of all computers). If Flash is not supported on a visitor's computer or on devices such as the Apple iPad and iPhone, the Flash component is automatically disabled and the JavaScript HTML5 module is activated instead.
